Providence Journal Promotes Nauman to Vice President-Circulation

PROVIDENCE , R.I. - Barbara J. Nauman, of West Warwick, has been named vice president of circulation at The Providence Journal and will be responsible for the overall management, sales development and growth strategies of the newspaper's circulation division.

"Barbara has exceptional talents in marketing, sales and management that she now will extend to our overall circulation plan," said Mark T. Ryan, executive vice president and general manager of The Providence Journal Co.

"She has had great success in the community, in academics and as a key contributor to our senior management team," added Ryan.

A 20-year employee of the Journal, Nauman most recently served as senior director of consumer marketing, overseeing home-delivered sales, customer service for home delivery and single copy as well as the newspaper's marketing efforts. During her tenure at the Journal, Nauman has worked in various roles within the newspaper's promotion department including director, manager, specialist and community affairs manager. Prior to joining the Journal, she was the promotion manager for the former Transcript-Telegram in Holyoke, Mass., and a reporter for The Transcript in North Adams, Mass.

Nauman holds a Master of Business Administration in marketing from Johnson & Wales University's Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School, where she was named distinguished graduate school alumna in 2008. She currently serves on the JWU graduate school's business advisory board and is part of the graduate school's adjunct faculty. Nauman also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/communications from North Adams State College (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts) in North Adams, Mass., and has completed executive management programs at Northwestern University J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and The American Press Institute.

She is a member of the Newspaper Association of America, the International Newspaper Marketing Association and Public Relations Society of America.
