Providence Journal Names Pelland Senior VP - Operations

PROVIDENCE , R.I. - Wayne D. Pelland of North Kingstown has been named senior vice president of operations at The Providence Journal Company. A twenty year veteran of the newspaper, Pelland was previously vice president of operations. He is responsible for all printing/distribution sales, press, preprint packaging, home delivery, and building services of the company.

" With his broad knowledge of operations and distribution, Wayne has been a key contributor to the senior management team for many years," said Mark T. Ryan, executive vice president and general manager at The Providence Journal Company. "He is a valuable leader across the company who has been involved in every major initiative."

Pelland, who joined The Providence Journal Company in 1989, served in several positions including vice president of operations, operations director, assistant to the operations director, an industrial engineer and systems analyst. Under his guidance, the Journal has just completed a major upgrade to the Production Facility including the replacement of all press electronic and the press folders.

Prior to joining the Journal, Pelland was senior analyst at Analysis and Technology and a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy's Submarine Force.

Pelland received a bachelor's of science in engineering and a master's in business administration from the University of Rhode Island.
